Beachcombing

Living in the rural Idaho most of my life, I always thought of artifacts of the American West as Pioneer Era farm implements. As a chiId, I lived in a homestead cabin out on the banks of the Lost River where I spent my days out behind the bunkhouse digging up old frying pans and barbed wire. The ocean was foreign to me. From 2021 to the spring of 2024 I lived 10 minutes from the beach. I started documenting the unveiled artifacts of the ocean, and I came to understand the American West in a different light. The following images are from my beachcombing experiences at various locations along the Central Coast of California.
